Transition Announcement: Libby Utter, Executive Director + A Personal Note From Libby

Gilda's Club Minnesota March 22, 2021

Dear Gilda’s Club Minnesota community,

On behalf of the GCTC Board, we are writing to let you know that Libby Utter, our Executive Director, has decided it is time to move on to new opportunities and allow for a new leader to expand on the incredible foundation she has built. When Libby joined GCTC 3.5 years ago, the clubhouse was just 3 years old, and Gilda’s was struggling financially. We knew we needed someone who could come in and turn the organization around and Libby did exactly that and more. Thanks to her, the Team and all of you, we are now on solid footing. We are incredibly grateful for Libby’s many contributions and so proud of all that was accomplished. We wish her the absolute best!

We want to assure you that the Board is actively engaged in this transition and are searching for an Executive Director. Please be patient with us as we navigate this transition.

Although change can be hard and goodbyes sad, change also brings hope and excitement about the opportunities ahead. Gilda’s future is bright! Our Team is exceptional, and our members are simply the best. As we look ahead, we are filled with HOPE. We are excited about expanding our programs, our Hope Happens Here campaign, marking the one-year anniversary of our virtual cancer support program, and the possibility of reopening the clubhouse and being together in person once again.

We thank you for your continued support.

Best,

Board of Directors

A Note from Libby Utter, Executive Director

Dear Gilda’s Club community,

Thank you for the honor and privilege of leading Gilda’s Club Minnesota for the past three and half years. Helping Gilda’s Club grow and evolve (and reinvent itself during a pandemic) has been an incredibly fulfilling experience.  I am confident that I am leaving the organization well positioned to grow to serve many more people whose lives are impacted by cancer, including those in underserved communities and who live outside of the metropolitan Twin Cities area.

I want to give heartfelt thanks to our tremendous staff for their tireless dedication to ensuring that no one faces cancer alone, our Board of Directors and committee members for helping us chart our course, and our facilitators, instructors, and volunteers without whom we would not be able to provide such extensive – and important – social and emotional support programming.  Most of all, I want to thank our members.  Your courage to be vulnerable, seek help, and share your stories with us is what makes Gilda’s Club so special.  I am proud and humbled to have had this opportunity.

With gratitude,

Libby
