All Hands On Deck!

Gilda's Club Minnesota December 20, 2021

This pandemic has brought unexpected obstacles to every organization and individual. Still, it has also shown us what is possible when we come together with ingenuity, resilience, creativity—and amazing heart.

On October 1, 2021, Gilda’s Club reopened the red doors of our physical clubhouse, formally opened the virtual clubhouse, and began the work of launching Gilda’s Club Minnesota into a new era, laying the groundwork and building the momentum for a two-year push to expand our reach and increase our budget, with a $100,000 kick-off matching grant from The Wasie Foundation.

Thanks to you, our community, we exceeded our matching goal and won the $100,000 grant.

At the same time, due to continued Covid concern we were unable to gather for in-person fundraising events, including our famous Gilda’s Club Annual Breakfast. This has left us with a budget gap of $374,857, as of December 1, 2021. We need your help to close this gap so that in 2022 we can continue to run both the in-person and virtual clubhouses while achieving our program goal of expanding our membership, to help more Minnesotans facing cancer than ever before. Help us achieve this goal by donating today so that in 2022 we can hit the ground running!

With your generous support, in 2022, we will:

  • maintain TWO clubhouses—our virtual one and our recently re-opened physical clubhouse—to provide more than 50 free programs per month
  • expand membership in 2022 through increased outreach to Minnesotans who don’t feel safe enough to leave their homes, who can’t take time off from their jobs or from caregiving, or who face other barriers to access
  • fund the additional programming, licensed support, technology platforms and clubhouse access/events at the approximate cost of $2,000 per member

This is an “all hands on deck” moment—and we need your help. Please join us and give generously. The more than 30,000 Minnesotans newly diagnosed with cancer each year, along with their families, friends, those already living with cancer and those living with loss, are counting on us to prove that community is stronger than cancer. Your gift matters. Make a donation today.
