Finding Growth in Changes and New Beginnings
As I reflected on what I wanted my first GildaGram to convey in my new role as Program Director, I couldn’t help but acknowledge the many changes that have taken place since the start of this year, in my own life and in the world. Change often brings with it a wide range of emotions, and I’m no exception.
I’m filled with excitement for this incredible opportunity to continue growing in this role and finding new ways to serve our community. I’m also saddened by the departure of a leader who taught me so much, and I feel nervous about stepping into big shoes. Yet, I’m also giving myself grace to forge my own path and create a leadership style that is uniquely mine. Each day is a mix of these emotions, and I’ve learned that they ebb and flow as we face the unknown.
As we all navigate changes, whether similar or vastly different, it’s important to recognize that these moments are often accompanied by a variety of emotions. Perhaps, like me, you’re experiencing a mix of feelings as you adapt to several changes. Or maybe you’re focused on one dominant emotion tied to a major shift. Whatever the case, it’s important to acknowledge and embrace these emotions in a healthy way. By doing so, we build resilience, helping us to grow and thrive in our ever-changing lives.

Allow us to be part of navigating growth and change through our multiple programs such as:
- Meditative Mandala Workshop – In-person with Dawn Jenkins
- Tuesday, April 1 from 1:30 – 3:30 pm
- Take part in a calming, mindful experience as you create an intricate circular design, releasing the need for perfection.
- Using the Enneagram as a Healing Tool – Online with Kate Jackson and Patty Nelson
- Various dates and times
- Discover how the Enneagram—a tool for deep self-awareness—can support you on your path to healing. In this workshop, you’ll learn how the three primary ways we perceive and experience the world (head, heart, and body) can help you strengthen communication, identify and meet your personal needs, and cultivate wellbeing.
- Family Night Dinner – In person with Gilda’s Club Staff and Volunteers
- Second and fourth Thursday of each month from 5:30 – 6:30 pm
- Family Night Dinners are now on Thursday! Invite your friends and family to join you in connecting with fellow Gilda’s Club members over a meal.
- Gifts of Gratitude – Online with Joan Saunders
- Tuesdays in May from 6:00 – 7:30 pm
- This multi-session class explores how gratitude practices can bring us more peace and joy, even during the tough times. Participants will write and decorate pages in a gratitude journal to help deepen awareness of all there is to be grateful for and to enhance the depth of feelings.
- Immunocompromised Clubhouse Sessions – In person
- Wednesdays from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
- Gilda’s Club is now offering clubhouse time for immunocompromised families and individuals! Reserve time in the clubhouse for yourself or your family from 9:00 am to noon on Wednesdays, a low-traffic time period. To keep the clubhouse safe, attendance will be limited to three families/groups at a time. Staff will be masked while members are in the clubhouse. To reserve time in the clubhouse, email virtual program offerings page and in-person program offerings page, in your class registration account, or call us at 612-227-2147.
